Jeff Fisk shares paper patch muzzleloading video
This week Jeff Fisk of BeStill Custom Muzzleloaders shared a new video detailing the loading process for a “New to Jeff” muzzleloader. It sounds like Jeff has been preparing for the NMLRA Spring National Shoot, kicking off June 12, 2021.
Jeff says in the video that “Woody” has been converted to “Paperpatch”. Jeff goes on to detail the loading process for this paper patch process.
Jeff attaches a false muzzle, common among NMLRA National Match competitors, to ensure a repeatable reloading process each time. The neat thing about Jeff’s false muzzle is that it comes in two parts. The first part is used to index to the muzzle, but the muzzle of the false muzzle include an X shaped impression to line up the paper for his paper patch.
After aligning his paper patch, Jeff adds a false muzzle to his false muzzle, clamping the paper down before inserting his custom 415 grain home cast bullet. Using a short starter, Jeff sets the bullet and patching into the muzzle of the barrel all at once before fully seating the bullet on top of the charge.
While it is unconfirmed, we expect to see Jeff and this rifle at the NMLRA Spring National Shoot next week. It will be neat to see how it performs on the national stage if he does bring it!
