One Fancy Flintlock Jaeger - German Hunting Rifle serves as an Artist’s Canvas

The Germans really know how to build em. German Jaeger is thought to have been made in the mid 1700s and judging by the quality and amount of carving, engraving, and gold applied to the rifle, it was for a high end client.

This is another fantastic example of a German Jaeger Rifle, a favorite among muzzleloading enthusiasts. We're going over some of the finer details of this piece in this video. I hope you enjoy! This is a beautiful jaeger rifle perhaps originating in mid-18th century Bohemia based on the overall style. The Damascus barrel has a swamped profile, fine dovetailed blade front sight, notch rear sight with decorative finial, and exquisite relief engraved rococo scroll and boar hunting scene engraving with gilt backgrounds on the breech section. The lock and furniture are also engraved with relief rococo scroll and game scenes with gilt backgrounds with dogs and stags, including nice detailed scenes with a downed stag on the side plate and a hunter and his dog on the heel. The only visible marking is "CH" inscribed on the buttplate.
