Traditions announces new “VAPR” barrel line for 2021
2021 has been a big year for modern muzzleloading enthusiasts. Three of the “Big 4” manufacturers are bringing new muzzleloaders to market, and Traditions wants their cut of the absolute boom of interest in muzzleloading coming out of 2020.
Muzzle-loaders.com has reported that Traditions will be delivering new additions to their modern inline muzzleloader series this year. Dubbed the “VAPR” line of barrels, these new barrels feature a faster 1:24 twist rifling and will be available on a variety of the Traditions rifles, including the Pursuit XT™ and Vortek StrikerFire™ LDR muzzleloaders.
This 1:24 twist rate is faster than the 1:28 and 1:48 twist rates found in previous Traditions models, but has a ways to go to catch up to the 1:22, 1:18, and even 1:16 twist barrels other manufacturers are teasing.
That being said, it is great to see Traditions releasing a faster twist barrel in their rifles. Traditions is the entry level go to for many muzzleloaders around the country, and 1:24 is fast enough for a vast majority of muzzleloading hunters in the United States. It’s great to see these faster twist rates and resulting greater stability at longer distances be available to anyone wanting to hunt with a muzzleloader.
