Unboxing a CVA Accura LR Package from Muzzle-Loaders.com
As spring began to thaw the cold Indiana landscape I was making plans for summer and how I wanted to spend it. I knew I wanted to pick up a production inline muzzleloader and with the shutdowns of 2020 fresh on my mind, I knew it could be hard to get one. After a year of no caps or powder, the shortages began to hit muzzle loader inventory.
While doing my research, none of the brick and mortar stores had what I wanted, let alone much product to look at and see in person.
I started shopping online, called some local shops and ultimately went with Muzzle-loaders.com Muzzle-loaders.com offers this neat service where you can pick out your muzzleloader, scope rings, scope, case and sling at a fair discount. They even set everything up and boresight it for you, all included in the price of the package.
More importantly at the time, they had the rifle I wanted in stock and ready to ship.
Being somewhat busy, I jumped at the opportunity to not have to reconfigure my workbench, which at the time was full of flintlock building tools, to hope I could line up the scope and keep it level while mounting it.
When you order one of these packages, everything is set up for you, you receive a big cardboard box, inside you'll find the case you ordered full of your goodies. The scope will be attached to the rifle, lenses protected by the covers. All the stickers and tags will be on the rifle, so it still feels like new when you get it. As a manual junkie when it comes to this stuff, I was happy to see the manuals and printed materials for each component were included in the pocket of the padded case.
Let's dig into the package I had built.
For my latest factory modern muzzleloader I went with the CVA Accura LR V2. I was pretty excited about the changes introduced with the Accura LRX earlier this year, mainly the threaded muzzle for a muzzlebrake and adjustable cheek rest in the stock, but didn't want to wait, so I jumped back a model and picked the LR V2.
CVA Accura V2 LR 50 Cal - PR3137NM
This is the 50 caliber model
It has the 30" Fluted Bergara Barrel
Veil Camo finish on the ambidextrous stock. I have to say, the stock is super comfortable. I'm not too worried about the recoil on this, but the CrushZone recoil pad is nice. What I really like is the fit and finish around the grip and forestock of the rifle. It's a great shape and is super comfortable and easy to grip. There are stocks out there that cost as much as this whole package, and this doesn't feel far from that in my opinion.
The rifle is 45" long, 8lbs without the scope and has a 14.5" Length of pull
Durasight DS411B
The scope is mounted using a set of Durasight scope rings
Vortex® Crossfire II
Riflescope - V Plex Recticle 1" Scope Tube-3- 9x40mm-V-Plex
34.1-12.6' FOV at 100 yards
3.8-4.4" eye relief
11.3" Long
Weighs 14.3oz
But wait, there's more
When you order one of these scope packages from Muzzle-loaders.com with a CVA Muzzleloader, you'll see an added free "Quake Claw" sling. Unfortunately, with the manufacturing shortages over the last year some packages, like mine, ship without them. Muzzle-Loaders.com has a phone number you can call to get one from CVA, but I've not tried it yet, I'm not too big on slings, but that's up to you.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the whole package. Shipping was fast and easy, with tracking all the way from Oregon to Indiana. Now it's time to hit the range here and see how this thing shoots!
Until next time, I'm Ethan and I love Muzzleloading, thanks for watching!
