Powerbelt making it easier to load the Powerbelt ELR Bullets with included loading tip

Muzzleloading hunters who are fans of the power belt ELR line of muzzleloading bullets will be happy to hear that Powerbelt is including a loading tip with all new packages of their popular ELR Bullets. Now there is no chance you can be out at the range or in the field with a new pack of bullets and not have a loading tip for your ramroad or bullet starter.

News about this change has been quiet, CVA Pro Staffer Henry Lowery has been updating CVA fans in the CVA shooters facebook group about this and other news from the muzzleloading giant all summer.

This change took effect in the August release of ELR bullets from Powerbelt. If you notice a package without this new loading tip, you are purchasing a set of bullets that is a bit older. The bullets themselves ARE THE SAME, no changes have been made to the bullets or their construction.

When the line of bullets launched just 3 years ago they were only available in .45 caliber. Powerbelt has since expanded the ELR line to the popular .50 caliber for western hunting, and as of 2021, the .40 caliber ELR bullet to match the new CVA Paramount HTR (Hunter).

With the expanding interest in "Extreme Long Range" matches for modern rim fire and centerfire shooting sports, it makes sense that Powerbelt ELR line of bullets are popular among muzzleloading shooters. As interest in muzzleloading grows, it really make sense to see that interest bleed into the muzzleloading world. Maybe in few years we will see some muzzleloading ELR matches, like the Midwest Muzzleloader Classic and Hoosier Muzzleloader Classic become popular across the United States.

Powerbelt has this to say about the ELR Line of bullets -

Designed for Maximum Long-Range Performance on Medium to Heavy Game. (Deer, Antelope, Elk)Designed for Maximum Long-Range Performance on Medium to Heavy Game. (Deer, Antelope, Elk)

  1. Polycarbonate tip preserves aerodynamic integrity and prevents premature expansion

  2. Smooth plated finish reduces standard deviation between shots for superior accuracy

  3. Larger diameter gas check for tight seal

  4. Larger hollow point cavity reduces weight and maximizes internal expansion

  5. Longer Length combined with aggressively tapered shape

  6. Flutes in gas check make it easier to load

  7. Scores inside gas check allow positive release when the bullet exits the barrel

It looks to me like this is a good change for the Powerbelt brand.

As August comes to a close, supply shortages are lightening up, but hunters wanting to use the new line of CVA Accura X Series or the Paramount HTR are still waiting for inventory to arrive here in the states. CVA, owned by BPI Outdoors, is not the only company struggling with this. Muzzleloading enthusiasts around the country are suffering from cap and muzzleloader shortages in general. With many seasons out west opening up, and eastern hunters preparing to sight in their muzzleloaders for the season, it looks like many will be waiting another year to refresh their rig.
