YouTube Begins Deleting I Love Muzzleloading Kit Building Videos
I woke up this morning to a notice that YouTube had removed Part 2 of my InvestArm Plains Pistol Build series. This comes after Youtube’s announcement earlier this year about a change in their firearms policy, specifically about the construction and modification of firearms.
A screenshot of the email I recieved.
This is a blow for the channel, and muzzleloading in general. I’ve had countless emails, phone calls, and conversations over the years about the helpfulness of these videos for newcomers to the sport. While alternatives to YouTube have come along, they still pale in comparison to YouTube’s reach to the general public. My mission is to promote muzzleloading the best I can, and while I continue to upload to alternatives, a video rarely reaches 100 views, even after a year.
When it comes to kit building, these alternative platforms have similar restrictions as YouTube when it comes to firearms. Both Playeur and Rumble segregate my videos to adults only and filter them as dangerous content because of the use of firearms. I have always focused on being family-friendly and safe in ALL of my content, but these restrictions continue to make things difficult
You can find most of my videos on Playeur, Rumble, or a true free speech platform, Gumroad. Gumroad has recently launched the ability to stream content to your phone or tablet and reportedly is working on a TV platform. On Gumroad, I have to charge a small fee for the videos, but there are no ads and no restrictions on gun-related content.
I will continue uploading videos to YouTube, the platform is still better than most for continuing my mission, but content will have to change here and there to keep it going. I will continue kit builds as much as possible. So far, the Kibler Woodsrunner series has not been affected. I tried a new format with it and I hope it is allowed to stay online.
Thank you for understanding, please accept my apologies for these continued disruptions and non-muzzleloading discussions. The future is bright for muzzleloading, these bumps in the road can be overcome with a cultural focus on the future and preservation of muzzleloading and American History.
