The Wolf has always been CVA’s more affordable muzzleloader, but in a year of increasing costs, it’s great to see CVA dedicated to the sub $400 price point for the Wolf V2. I wouldn’t expect to see this go on sale for a while. If you know you want a Wolf and like the Wolf V2 features, get it while you can.
When will the Wolf V2 be available for purchase?
CVA has stated a few times this year that they would not be releasing any new rifles until they had inventory on hand and ready to ship. While the Wolf V2 has been announced, as of June 2, 2022 it is not available for purchase, though I expect it to be soon. As of writing the original CVA Wolf is available for purchase through CVA’s online store
The Wolf V2 has been rumored for a while now, ever since the absence of the Wolf in the 2022 CVA Catalog earlier this year. Darren Binder at Muzzle-Loaders.com broke the news first with an interview with Jason Sebo at SHOT Show 2022. Sebo doubled down on CVA’s dedication to supporting beginner muzzleloading hunters and enthusiasts with budget friendly options, going so far as to build the Wolf V2 with younger or smaller statured shooters first. It’s been a long time since a major manufacturer has made a youth focused muzzleloader and I have to say it’s nice to see.
Apart from the adjustable length of pull, the Wolf V2 features a short 24” stainless steel barrel (important for those beginners who are still learning to clean their. muzzleloader) with a 1:28” twist rate and a .50 caliber bore. This isn’t a long range, fast twist muzzleloader like the Paramount series from CVA, but it has all the features someone needs to get started in muzzleloading.
Wolf V2 Press Release
BPI Outdoors/CVA is pleased to announce the Wolf V2 muzzleloader, a re-vamp of its ever popular and affordable Wolf-model muzzleloader. Jason Sebo, CVA’s vice president of sales ales and brand manager said, “When looking at our line of muzzleloaders, we didn’t have a model that focused on youth or small-statured adults. The team felt the Wolf was a perfect model to be flexible for all sizes of shooters.” With that said, the Wolf V2 has a one-inch length of pull and adjustable rubber spacer, which is similar to the CVA Cascade centerfire rifle.
This gun is loaded with features, and equipped with a premium 24-inch barrel made from corrosion-resistant 416 stainless steel with a bullet guiding muzzle. It is an ease to clean with its QRBP (Quick Release Breech Plug). An ambidextrous stock and reversible cocking spur allow flexible use for either right- or left-handed shooters. The Crushzone Recoil pad yields comfort while shooting, and the gun can be purchased with either the DuraSight Dead-On one-piece scope mount, or open fiber-optic sights. It weighs in at a mere 6.5 pounds, making it convenient to carry. For loading, the firearm boasts a solid-aluminum Palmsaver ramrod.
